Wall Cabinet(s)
Wall cabinets must be securely fastened flat to a structural wall that is plumb and square to the floor.
Cut away the baseboard or the lower back of the cabinet to insure a tight fit of the cabinet to the wall of the room.
Your Local or State Government may require installation be completed by a licensed contractor.
Installation must conform to all Local and State building codes and laws that may apply.
Confirm that the inside width of the wall cabinet opening that is to receive the bed platform is exactly 60mm +1/32 – 0” wider than the outside width of the bed frame including a mechanism if mounted exposed (outboard) on the bed frame.
Bed Platform
Lift the foot of the platform above the head of the platform, about 45°, and lower the platform into the cabinet opening and the square “saddle” of the pivot mount plate. The door panel must pass in front of and under the mount plate saddle. See figure I-1
Close the platform door tightly. Then lower the platform door to the full open position to insure that there is no obstruction of motion. See figure I-2
Turn the hex handles by hand to take up any slack. Both sides must be equally tight. Use NO wrench.
Adjust the door reveal to a uniform gap on all sides at the square axel and pivot mount plate, with a 6mm hex wrench.
Install the mattress in or on the bed frame of the platform.
Lift the door to 15° from closed, about 24” open at the top see figure A-1.
To uninstall, reverse this sequence.
ADJUSTING THE SELBY WALL BED
Adjusting the Tension
The Pardo counter balance mechanism is designed to function within a specific weight range. The total weight of the platform, bed frame and mattress must be within the design minimum and maximum limits of the mechanism to perform properly.
Do Not Attempt to adjust the tension on the Pardo mechanisms with the platform door panel in the full open position.
1. With the cabinet secured to a permanent structural wall you may start the adjustment procedure.
2. Move the panel door to an approximate 15° angle (from vertical or about a 24” opening at the top) and tighten by hand both left and right tension handles until they no longer turn without force. This means that both sides are now evenly adjusted and that the springs are uniformly engaged.
3. With the platform at 15° from vertical, see figure A-1, use a 24mm socket wrench to sequentially tighten both mechanisms an equal number of turns in multiples of 8 to 10 strokes at a time. (the bed frame will obstruct full turns) One side then the other to maintain balance. A ratchet wrench and 24mm socket is recommended to avoid damage to the tension adjusting screw cover and to apply proper torque.
4. Lower the panel door until the bed is parallel to the floor. At this point, you may judge for yourself the weight of the bed. If you feel it is to heavy, tighten the regulators further (Always in the up-right position) to obtain the perfect setting.
Use NO wrench to adjust tension in this position
